When you wish upon a starQMC

When you wish upon a Star

"When You Wish Upon a Star" is a small charity whose primary aim is to grant the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses.

All children have wishes but for these children and their families that wish is so much more precious. For the duration of their wish, these children are able to forget about hospital routines, doctors and gruelling treatments and smile, laugh and enjoy life like any other child.

Wishes are varied and far reaching. For some children it is a trip to Disneyland in Florida or Paris to meet their favourite characters, for others it is the chance to get up close to a favourite pop star or sporting hero. Some children just want books or toys, whilst others want a computer to catch up on school work or keep in touch with their friends. Whatever the wish, wherever possible, ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ will aim to make that wish come true.

Childline NPCC Stop Sport

NSPCC

The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) is the UK´s leading charity specialising in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children.

The Nottingham Young People´s Centre and Schools Team provide a range of services for young people between the ages of 5 and 16. The Schools Team provide counsellors who listen and talk to children about things which are worrying them such as bullying, relationship problems or parents splitting up.

A message from Jenni Cowlishaw, NSPCC Corporate Fundraising Manager

"Everyone at NSPCC in Nottingham would like to say a huge thank you for your generous donation from the Hot Property Event last year."

"It is a terrible fact that at least one child each week will die as a result of cruelty or neglect and the NSPCC are dependent on the generosity of the general public for over 85% of its income in order that we are able to continue to provide a vital service protecting children at risk of abuse. Please be assured that your contribution will be put to good use in our work protecting children at risk of abuse and neglect."

"I would like to wish you every success with this year’s event and I hope that it is as entertaining as last year. Once again, many thanks for your support."

ChildLine

ChildLine is the UK´s free, 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn.

Every day around 4,500 children call ChildLine, but lack of funds means that only 2,500 of them will get through to our counsellors for comfort, advice and protection.

ChildLine's volunteer counsellors are ordinary people doing something extraordinary - helping to change children´s lives. Because of our invaluable volunteer counsellors at Nottingham we are able to comfort, advise and protect hundreds of children a week, every week of the year. Without them we wouldn't exist. Volunteering is the ethos upon which ChildLine was established, and we couldn’t reach as many children as we do without their commitment.

A message from Joanna Dale, ChildLine Corporate Fundraising Manager

"ChildLine in Nottingham would like to send our sincere thanks to Nottingham Hot Property 2006 for their donation which will help us to recruit and train more volunteer counsellors, allowing us to help even more children who have nowhere else to turn."
